Operating from its base in Shildon, County Durham, for over 40 years, the Bignall Group has built a reputation for providing innovative engineering solutions for a wide range of products and industries. The Group itself consists of 3 brands with a breadth of capability from initial product design support through to production solutions with onsite verification with its various companies.
Design, Prototype and Low to Medium Volume solutions are supported through the Shildon Manufacturing brand with subcontract machine shop services (such as CAD/CAM design, CNC Milling & Turning, 3D Printing & CMM measurement).
Then into production: assembly solutions can be trailed and supported through the experienced teams which also produce their own respective products. These include Automated Lubrication Systems through the Masterlube Systems brand and Toilet Cubicle Hardware through the Cobtec brand.
Since its humble beginnings in road haulage, this Group has diversified and proven itself to provide sound technical support to its global customer base. Additionally the Bignall Group has recently developed a number of solutions to help battle the COVID-19 crisis, including face visors for caregivers and keyworkers along with screens for fitment to vans to help the country prepare to start returning to work, both projects going from concept to customer in a matter of days.
Mark Coatsworth, Group Commercial Manager of the Bignall Group, advised why the Group required an ERP system:
“We have recently invested in a number of new people to drive and support our business growth ambitions. This expansion of our team, and our desire to drive more cohesive efficiencies within the Group enabled us to recognise that the time was right to simplify our existing complex systems and find a one stop solution for all our business processes.
“Following a detailed and comprehensive scoping activity, we initially narrowed our scope to around 16 ‘viable’ vendors. We opened discussions with 5 in more detail and eventually narrowed it to E-Max, based on the ability to meet the scope, the look and feel of the system through the comprehensive demonstrations, responsiveness of the sales team and finally as they are a local team and part of our ideology is to support local where possible.
“E-Max ERP will give us greater clarity of key business information and simplified defined processes.”
E-Max ERP is an Enquiry to Invoice software application designed by engineers for engineers. Optimised for manufacturing and engineering SMEs like the Bignall Group, the software is proven to facilitate business growth. E-Max ERP allows companies to replace multiple spreadsheets or legacy systems and consolidate their data so they are able to make informed real-time decisions. The system includes functionality rarely offered in off-the-shelf software packages and encompasses Customer Relationship Management, Order Processing, Production Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Warehouse Management, Financials, Shop Floor Data Collection and Capacity Planning & Finite Scheduling.
Jason Pritchard, Sales Director at E-Max Systems added,
“We are delighted to welcome The Bignall Group on board. The team are very experienced and have a strong reputation for providing their innovative engineering solutions to companies across the globe. Their ‘thinking outside the box’ approach is very similar to how we operate in E-Max and we know there will be great synergy between our two companies as E-Max ERP enables the Bignall Group to gain greater efficiencies and streamlined processes.”
